Sheep and Wool

Herd of sheep

Our sheep are born and bred here on the farm for both meat and wool. We follow all of the natural, sustainable farm practices that provide a quality life for our animals and a safe, high quality meat product for our customers. We have carefully cross bred Cormo, Suffolk and Finnsheep to come up with a flock that produces excellent cuts of meat as well as beautiful fiber.

The lamb is predominately grass fed with other grains and legumes added in small amounts to their diet to produce the best flavor components in the meat All butchering is done by Bringhurst Meats, the same local, high quality, family owned butcher in Berlin, NJ that processes our pork.

Lamb (and mutton on occasion) can be purchased directly from the farm by special order and is also available for retail sale from Whole Earth Center natural grocery in Princeton, NJ or The Yarn Tree fiber arts studio and store in Brooklyn, NY.

This year’s fleece was spun into yarn by Blue Hills Fiber Mill, creating four incredible natural colors of worsted weight yarn that range from a soft, deep brown through shades of gray to natural ivory.

Yarn may be purchased directly from the farm or from Pins and Needles in Princeton, NJ or The Yarn Tree. The Yarn Tree is also planning to offer some yarn that is hand dyed with natural dyes which is one of the store’s specialties
